Portable hot-box system for in-situ measurement of thermal transmittance (U-value) of building components. Uses PID-controlled heated box and digital temperature sensing to determine steady-state heat flow and compute U-values on site.
Product Description
The system applies the hot-box method to evaluate the thermal transmittance of walls and other building elements under real outdoor conditions. A heated box on the interior side is controlled so that its air temperature matches the indoor setpoint while the exterior remains under natural ambient, ensuring heat flow from inside to outside.
When thermal steady state is reached, the electrical heating power equals the heat transmitted through the test section, enabling calculation of the U-value from recorded temperatures and power. The hot box is constructed from polystyrene sandwich color-steel panels for low mass and high insulation, with braked casters for easy, secure positioning and universal-joint clamping with threaded locking for fast, sealed installation.
The system is fully computer-controlled with PID regulation, automated data acquisition, analysis, and report generation. All temperature points use imported digital temperature sensors for high accuracy, wide range, and stable performance; the interface is intuitive, with clear display of temperatures, real-time and average power, U-value, and system clock.
