Digital Glass Softening Point Tester (Suspension Method)
Published: 3/27/2019
The Digital Glass Softening Point Tester (Suspension Method) measures the softening temperature of glass fibers by heating them in an electric furnace until they stretch at a constant rate. It is primarily used in quality control and research applications for glass materials to ensure compliance with ISO 7884 standards.
Product Description
The Digital Glass Softening Point Tester (Suspension Method) is designed to determine the softening temperature of glass fibers. The device operates by placing a glass fiber sample within an electric furnace and uniformly heating it until the fiber elongates under its own weight. The temperature at which the elongation rate reaches 1 mm/min is considered the softening point, which corresponds to the viscosity of the glass being 4.5*10⁶ Pa.s. This testing method ensures precise measurement of the glass's thermal behavior.
Designed in accordance with the ISO 7884-1978(E) standard, the instrument features a projection micrometer for measuring length changes in the glass fiber. Target industries include those involved in the production and testing of glass materials, where determining precise softening characteristics is vital for product quality and performance validation.
