Digital Glass Softening Point Tester (Suspended Fiber Method)
Published: 3/27/2019
Bench-top instrument for determining the softening point (Ts) of glass using a suspended filament method with controlled heating and digital readout. Designed and manufactured in accordance with ISO 7884-1978(E) for glass viscosity-related softening measurements.
Product Description
The RH-I Digital Glass Softening Point Tester measures the softening temperature of glass fibers by heating a standardized glass filament in an electric furnace at a controlled rate until its elongation rate reaches 1 mm per minute. The corresponding temperature is defined as the glass softening point Ts and correlates to a viscosity of approximately 4.5×10^6 Pa·s.
In operation, a glass filament of specified length is uniformly heated while its elongation is monitored using a projection micrometer. The system provides precise temperature control and digital temperature resolution to support repeatable testing in quality control and materials research.
